OnEast Journal is currently no longer taking applications for new editors. We will reopen applications in September.


OnEast Journal is offering prospective applicants the opportunity to gain meaningful, hands-on experience and engage in substantive academic work. Whether you are looking to strengthen your academic profile, strengthen your research skills, or participate in a dynamic student-led initiative, OnEast provides a supportive platform to grow and make a tangible impact.

We are looking to create an editorial team capable of expressing expertise in a range of subjects. We encourage applications from prospective applicants who have knowledge of East Asian culture, literature, and academic levels of fluency in East Asian languages (e.g. Chinese, Japanese, Korean).

Graduate editors –

  • We are recruiting graduate students interested in East Asian Studies our graduate editing team.
  • Graduate editors will play an important senior role in the editorial and review process.
  • Workload may be concentrated around August.
  • Please include in your submission CV/resume and writing sample – preferably below 5000 words.

Undergraduate editors –

  • We are recruiting undergraduate students in any program who are interested in East Asian Studies.
  • Prior experience is an asset but not required.
  • Workload may be concentrated June-September.
  • Please submit a CV/resume and writing sample – preferably below 5000 words.
