EASSU will be hosting its fifth annual On East conference this year on Friday, March 23rd from 2-4pm! It will be in the Purple Lounge of the EAS department on the 14th floor of Robarts.
Every year we ask students, some of whose work will be published in our On East undergraduate journal, to present their research, offering the rest of the EAS community an opportunity to learn about their work and also giving the students an opportunity to receive comments and answer questions. Our finalized schedule for the event is as follows:
2:00 – 2:15 Keynote speaker: Professor Victor Falkenheim
2:20 – 2:35: “Sites of Rebellion in Ghost in the Shell”
2:40 – 2:55: “The Construct of Gender Roles in Japan: Their Reinforcement, Contestation and Implications for the Future”
2:55 – 3:25 Intermission
3:25 – 3:40: “The Clash between the Global and Local: Tokyo Disneyland as a Glocalized Battleground”
3:45 – 4:00: “Visions of Domesticity in North Korean Propaganda”
We hope you’ll join us for an afternoon of fascinating discussion and to support your fellow students! Refreshments will be served during intermission.
